TEACHING FIELDS:

Public Administration

I am now teaching courses in methods and public administration
including Quantitative Methods for Public Administration,
Information Technology for Public Management, and Administrative
Behavior. I have taught other public administration courses including
courses in policy analysis, budgeting, bureaucratic politics, organization
behavior, and public personnel.


Methodology

I have taught research methods and statistics for several years.
The current courses I am teaching in this area include a course
in Quantitative and Qualitative Methods in Political Science
for undergraduates in political science. A similar course at the
graduate level is being taught for MPA students.


International Relations

I presented several international collaboration papers for
the APSA. Present research interests emphasize international
aspects of Internet's development. I have written about political
values and European cities. I have presented an international
relations paper at 20th World Congress of IPSA. I have book
about European public place that I wrote while completing my Ph.D.

American Government

My dissertation discusses policy output in American government.
I examines how effective Congress' oversight of FTC policies has been.
I have taught American politics over ten years and as recently as spring
semester 2008. My teaching experience includes state and local government.
Convention papers include presentations in both executive and legislative
politics.

Elementary Statistics SS-304: An introduction to statistics for the
social sciences is provided by this course.

Comparative Governments - West Europe PS-311: Comparative analysis
of governments in West Europe is the subject of this course.

Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods in Political Science PS 325:
Techniques for accomplishing quantitative and qualitative research in political
science are presented combining statistical and research design concerns.

Research Methods in Social Sciences SS-407: How to accomplish
successful social science research is discussed including various
problems in designing and conducting research from devising the
hypothesis to presenting the results.

Research Methods and Data Analysis PA-501: Problems in theory and
completion of social science research are discussed in this course
with an emphasis on both traditional survey techniques and public
program evaluations.

Statistics in the Public Sector PA-503: Use of statistics in the
public sector are presented in this course, and statistical packages
and data sets are discussed as useful to the public administrator.

Public Personnel Administration PA-504: The development of
contemporary public personnel is presented together with current
issues and applied situations in public personnel.

Administrative Behavior PA-517: The processes of decision-making
and management of people are discussed identifying major factors
conditioning administrative behavior and providing students knowledge
about what experts discuss as affecting administrative decision making.

Information Technology for Public Management PA-519: Discussion of
information technologies, design of information systems, and computer
applications for the public sector are considered in the course about
information systems and public administration.

Quantitative and Qualitative Methods in Public Administration PA 556:
Methodological issues pertaining to accomplishing public administration research
are presented.

Special Topics - Politics of Bureaucracy PA 565: This course is directed
toward discovering how political conflicts are resolved in bureaucracy
with an emphasis on how bureaucratic culture shapes the political styles
of bureaucrats.

 

University of Northern Iowa:

American Politics in a Comparative Perspective 94:015: This course
discusses American politics and makes contrasts to the political
process in other countries.

Modern European Democracies 94:135: The political institutions and
politics of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France are the main
emphasis of this course. This course, also, discusses how European
Economic Community institutions affect these democracies.

Introduction to Public Administration 94:148: This course introduces
public administration. Organizations, human behavior in organiza-
tions, politics of administration, policy analysis, and comparative
public administration are all included.

Politics of Bureaucracy 94:153: Politics within bureaucracy is the
subject of this course. Bureaucracy, the individual within the
organization, the environment, sources of bureaucratic power, and
bureaucratic policy are presented.

Methods of Political Analysis 94:159: Beginning with the language
of social science this course discusses how to analyze politics.
Discussion of theory construction, strategies for improving research,
survey research methods, and data analysis comprise this course.

Public Budgeting 94:172: This course examines the budgetary process
and the politics of budgetary decision making. Cases and examples
are used from federal, state, and local budgeting.
 
Methods of Public Policy Research 94:176: Advanced survey research
methods and microcomputer statistical analysis techniques are
suggested for public management.


University of Texas at Arlington:

Government of the United States 2311: The Constitution, public
opinion, voting behavior, political participation, interest groups,
political parties, the Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme
Court are all included in this course.

State and Local Government 2312: State constitutions, intergovern-
mental relations, financial affairs, institutions of state and local
